Skull Preparation
Remove the head with a few inches of the neck still attached. Freeze the specimen. Before shipping, wrap the specimen in double layers of newspaper and double bag in heavy plastic. Ship specimen in either styrofoam cooler with adequate packing material or a plastic container from a discount store will work too. We will reship the finished product in your original plastic container.
It should weigh no more than 70 pounds. We prefer parcels to be shipped Fedex air on a Monday to ensure their arrival by Friday. If you chose to ship Fedex ground, do so only on a Monday. Ground parcels shipped on days other than a Monday may result in sitting over a weekend, and may spoil, and could be thrown away by the shipping company. U.S. Mail can also be used, but please use their delivery confirmation option. Mark your package "Taxidermy Items" (Federal Law Requirement.)
A packing list of the enclosed items must accompany your shipment. This will ensure no items are overlooked and discarded. Please place your packing list in a zip-lock bag, taped to the outside of your box.
Please include your name, address and telephone number on the shipping box and send us an email or call us when you have shipped your skull. Once we receive your skull, we will email or call you to let you know it has arrived.
All of the above procedures are very important. Leaky, maggot infested, foul smelling packages cause many problems and can lead to your package being discarded by the shipping company. Poorly packaged specimens can arrive damaged. `Bama Head Hunters accepts no responsibility for specimens that arrive damaged. With proper packing and shipping, you can avoid problems in transit and ensure your trophy arrives in good condition.
